IgE specific home test kits are now available. These are highly accurate and look for the antibodies causing a specific allergy. Our kits use a small blood sample taken at home or by a doctor to determine your test result for 273 allergens.
Buying a home allergy test kit has, in the past, not always been recommended. This is because many home tests were based on unspecific IgG, which cannot reliably identify a specific allergy from a person’s blood. However, IgE specific tests are now available, which have been proven to be highly accurate.
The only IgE home test kit to utilise laboratory testing facilities is provided by Igevia and can be purchased from Allergy Shop here. The kit offers the largest number of near-instant allergy results simply using just a small amount of blood collected at home. This is then posted to a specialist laboratory with the results taking anywhere from a few days to a few weeks to be returned. The cost per test is much less versus buying lots of individual tests, and unsuspected allergies can be revealed from such a broad-spectrum system.
A good quality, accurate, IgE home test is a good place to start your allergy testing journey and will help in establishing what needs further testing. Do remember that it is always recommended to follow up any suspected allergy with your GP, who should then refer you to an allergy Specialist or Consultant.
